Welcome,
Uncertainty, on a global scale and for individual businesses, seems prevalent in the market at the present. It's important to remember that circumstances are not out of your control.
While others react and try to second guess what might happen, I see now as an opportunity to focus your energy on the outcomes you want.
Where to focus your energy may seem a tough question. I say it's better to focus on one tough question, than to avoid it and keep hopping from one thing to another.

Position for Growth
As a Shirlaws Coach, when I think about 'Focus' (or lack thereof) in a business, I often relate this to their Market Position (what they say AND what they do). Positioning as a concept first came to the forefront of business thought in the 1980s, but this article is one of the best applications that I've read (and used - often!).
Harley Davidson on Positioning
I've discussed the Harley Davidson example before, and it's worth sharing again. The Key quote here for me was this: Harley Davidson "Chooses not to compete on price and intentionally fails to meet demand".
Then there's this link which provides some more details in a case study - though it doesn't mention the HD perfume.
The Value of Positioning
AC/DC have recently released their latest album, and it shot to #1 around the world. For three decades the band has focussed on what they know, with the resulting product success and clear market. Amazingly, they have hit #1 (wait for it) without selling online.
The Personalization Premium
If you want some numbers, here they are (with pictures of course) - The more freedom a consumer has to personalise a product, the more they will be willing to pay.One obvious reaction to the economy is to cut your prices - what if you decided to increase value instead?
And if it's focus you want (video)
Why not try balancing rocks?
Intranet Joke of the Week
A rule for decision making: Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things.
Until next week,
