Be an IT girl

This week a client called me "someone with an IT persuasion", which is fair enough, but even I was working in time to see my office implement its 'Email Addresses for All' policy. I await the day a Gen Y business coach asks how I ever got by without Twitter or my Blackberry.

Three months ago our Business Links emails upgraded to the Vision 6 platform, which allows us to better understand which topics and articles are of most interest (and relevance?) to our contacts.

That information helps inform and improve our weekly decisions about what to include, and I'm happy to share key learnings on request. The question for you - where can technology help make your life easier?

And what's stopping you from upgrading?

The Receptionist Test
Waiting for a job interview, these tech applicants are faced with a simple problem the receptionist is experiencing. Little do they know this 'impromptu' question is part of the interview.

Jay Leno's 3D Printer replaces rusty car parts
Amazing technology that was science-fiction 10 years ago, and will continue to get cheaper all the time. Did you know they're already working on a similar process that prints human organs!

History of Portable Computers
Sometimes we only notice the speed of progress when we have a chance to reflect. So here's a history or Laptops - both weight and prices go down, while style and functionality continue to improve.

Google CEO on why he hired a coach

Lastly, a link between technology and coaching.  In true brevity Eric Schmidt explains how coaching helps upgrade his business month after month.

Intranet Joke of the Week

A vacuum salesman appears at the door of an old lady's cottage and, without allowing the woman to speak, rushes into the living room and throws a large bag of manure all over her clean carpet.
"If this new and improved vacuum doesn't pick up every bit of that dirt," he declares, "then I will gladly eat the remainder myself!"
The woman, who by this time had lost her patience, was ready to respond. "Sir," she says, "if I had enough money to buy that thing, then I probably would have paid my electricity bill before they cut it off.
"Now, can I offer you some tomato sauce?"

Until next week,
