Happy New Year. We know that not every reader of the Shirlaws Business Links has the opportunity to read every edition, or click on the links to all the interesting and practical stories.

So over the holiday break, we thought we would send out some of the most popular stories from 2009. This week, we link to the four most engaging newsletters from last year. The joke, as always, is new.

A full archive (and your (belated) Christmas gift) can be found at www.shirlawsonline.com/blogs

Catch and KISS
From August 7, this edition still holds the benchmark for the number of readers who opened it, and the percentage of those readers who found one or more of the stories useful.

A Mo Bro Low Blow
From November 27, more people clicked through the links in this edition than any other, which also helped the Shirlaws Movember tally exceed $13,000.

Think First, Benefit Later
From August 14, a week after Catch and KISS, which supports an observation I made at EMSA that one good newsletter deserves another.

Spot the Difference
From June 19, this edition boasted the most popular internal Shirlaws story of the year, as well as the best (by popular acclaim) joke of the week.

Intranet Joke of the Week

The Christmas run over for another year, a reindeer walks into a bar, bellies up to the counter, and orders a martini. Without batting an eyelid, the bartender mixes and pours the drink, sets it in front of the reindeer, and accepts the $20 bill from the reindeer's hoof.
As he hands the reindeer some silver coins in change, he says "You know, I think you're the first reindeer I've ever seen in here."
The reindoor looks at his hoof-full of change, and hurrumphs. "Let me tell you something buddy. At these prices I'm going to be the last reindeer you see in here."

Until next week, and an all new edition,
Jacob Aldridge and the Shirlaws Team
