What is Tuba Tuesday on Twitter?

Regular readers may be aware that in addition to blogging for the Shirlaws global website, I am currently responsible for the Shirlaws Australia Twitter account. Part of this role is gaining the practical experience so that our international business coaches can receive maximum benefit from the discussions and marketing that take place on that site.
One of the key lessons learned so far is that Twitter, at its best, is a conversation platform not a 'spray and pray' avenue for your latest marketing message. Tweeters who only blast their followers with self-supporting claims and links to their own website are frowned upon, and frankly they provide little value in the stream of information Twitter provides to me. Blatant self-promotion is viewed as a bad thing, and (ironically?) most of us on Twitter see that as a good thing.
But...
All of those businesses and wonderful individuals on Twitter are bringing value to the world. And the world, or at least the Twittersphere, will benefit from understanding their value via clear and direct communication.
And this poses a dilemma. How do you openly and fairly share your value, while not polluting the Twitter stream with over self promotion? It is to answer this question that I propose the creation of #TubaTuesday.
Regular Twitter users will be familiar with #FollowFriday (or #FF), a weekly tag you can use to promote the Twitter users you receive value from. In the same vein, I see #TubaTuesday (or #TT) as a once a week opportunity to 'blow your own horn'.
@ShirlawsAus will be using it (today being Tuesday, we'll be using it shortly) to promote some of our excellent coaches or recent client success stories. Other users - and I'll mention @SarahFidd particularly - recognise the opportunity to promote personal skills or even aspirations.
So whether you're a business or personal Tweeter (or, like many users, a combination of both), why not embrace #TubaTuesday? In a world, and a Web 2.0 Platform, where healthy praise for yourself is often seen as strange, once a week let it all out.
You're worth it!
