Context = leverage and creating scale

What I Did this week:

I've been really busy working with clients over the last couple of weeks. The last few days have been a blur of meetings and coaching sessions.

I have worked very hard at developing a great team of support around myself and the Shirlaws clients that I work with. Practically, this has meant investing in a support coach about three months ago and creating depth her skill set so that I can gain leverage of both time and knowledge when working on new clients. It's been so effective that I can now pass on clients to other coaches to manage the implementation of agreed and completed strategies in a faster and more structured way. Interestingly, one of the coaching team commented to me that they will really feel the pinch when I pass on the account because the leverage that my support coach brings to my files.

I'm also working back in the UK business strategy team again. I was asked to join the strategy / operational team for the UK business. The first meeting created some awareness for me about how much support in both energy and commercial skills that I can bring to the CEO and others within the team. It's also great to be aligning so much of the personal activity that I have been doing, within a distribution context, to the UK strategy. From a succession point of view - it is clear that one of the next steps for the UK management team is to define a "pathway" for new talent and introduce their skills to create more leverage of the "older Shirlaws heads" floating around the UK. We're in a hiring phase right now and need to get this underway.

In fact if you are reading this Blog, and new to Shirlaws - email us or get in touch to find out more about the business, the industry , the culture of Shirlaws etc.. I would love to hear from you.

Another personal milestone for me this week came when I ran the first education-based workshop for a major distribution relationship. There's not a lot to say about it other than that I was very proud to able to start running a programme that deepens the relationship with both the distributor and their client base to Shirlaws.

What I Learnt:

Wow - not sure where to start! My personal focus for the last 18 months has been on my own stuff and creating more and more awareness about the choices that I make that don't serve me anymore. That journey has at times been emotional and certainly not without some challenges. Asking for feedback about your behaviours is not the most fun - particularly if deep down you already know that some of them are not flash!!!! Having said that - my commitment to that journey and the choices that I made and continue to make are serving me in a way that I never dared dream about before. To quote my coach - I am valuable, I am lovable - and believing that is changing my life.

What I Feel:

Very calm about my choices; very proud of what I am creating for myself and this business; very excited about bringing 100 new coaches into our business in the next 18 months
