Jim joined Shirlaws' team in Scotland in November 2007.  His clients benefit from his strong leadership and business development skills gained over a 27-year career in the food & drinks manufacturing industry.  He has a passion for helping Business Owners and Managers acquire the business skills they need to achieve strong balanced growth. Jim helps clients to create and maintain a structure and environment within their Company that encourages personal responsibility, resulting in growth & development of themselves, their ideas and their business.

Jim was General Manager for the Scottish operations arm of Smuckers, a $2.3 billion family owned USA based food group, where a strong family values culture underpinned the whole organisation. Starting in 1999 he setup, ran, and developed Smuckers industrial business in the UK with Kelloggs as the primary customer and also introduced new customers such as United Biscuits ( McVities UK and Holland), Warburtons, Jacobs and Jordans Foods (Austria). Jim has previously worked in senior operational management positions with British Bakeries (RHM) and Princes Soft Drinks (Mitsubishi) working with customers such as Coca Cola and AG Barr.

Jim's career started as a bacteriologist in the food industry in 1980.  He has an honours degree in Microbiology from The University of Glasgow and an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School.
