Stephen joined Shirlaws in 2008.  His extensive industry and board experience enables him to assist clients to achieve and stay true to their vision. Stephen's ability to undertake the pivotal role of mentor, advisor, and director enables clients to focus on their growth and succession planning. He has a particular interest in succession and coaching companies to become investment ready.  

Prior to joining Shirlaws, Stephen established a successful software company and held senior positions with News Corporation and Phillips.  His professional careers spans numerous industry sectors including finance, insurance, investment banking, technology, media and creative industries.  Stephens's extensive financial skills have allowed him to successfully manage finance operations for multi-national corporations, negotiate multi-million dollar international acquisitions and investments and built start-ups from inception through to trade sale.

An FCPA by profession he is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business and School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland and a past CEO of the QUT Creative Industries Precinct.  Stephen is a professional company Director who holds board positions with both unlisted public and private companies.

Stephen is married with two children and three stepchildren. Besides his family he has a passion for "pommie'  sport cars and he has owned MG's since he has had a license, at present he is the custodian of a 1959 Austin Healey 3000 that he has had for 18 years.
