Michael Clifford

Michael Clifford

Michael is a Director and Equity partner in Shirlaws Corporate Australia.  Michael Clifford joined Shirlaws Corporate Coaching in October 2009.  His strength and passion lies in sales and marketing, business development and relationship partnerships.  He has coached and mentored sales teams over the years, and now brings this experience together with his business and financial acumen to become a Shirlaws coach.

Michael began his corporate career in the financial services industry back in 1983 and over some 18 years he has built two successful businesses - the first being a sole practitioner, as a financial planner, building his business into a medium size financial planning firm with two partners. Advice was provided in Superannuation, Income & Growth Investments, Retirement & Pension strategies, Insurance & Estate planning and Wealth Protection strategies. In the later stages of those 18 years the financial planning business merged into a much larger company operation that provided the same complete range of financial planning advice with its own dealers licence and investment platforms. Michael holds a diploma in financial planning to the CFP status.

The sale of his financial planning business in 2001 allowed him to pursue a hobby career within the horse racing industry. Over the next five years, a syndication company, with partner Anthony Cummings, delivered success at the highest level of racing with a long term professional approach. Michael's financial services experience allowed him to create the product disclosure statements (PDS) and syndicate deeds not seen in the racing industry before.

He participates in a number of community programs in leadership positions, his favourite being the MiniMos annual fun run and fair. A small commercial operation in Canada rounds off Michael's business interests.
