Roy Lauder
Roy joined Shirlaws in 2004 to work with our Scottish clients. He has an engineering background and has gained strong business development and project management skills by working with both large corporates and small businesses. He has set up and built two companies of his own - the first business in engineering services to the Oil sector and the second in international project development in the utility sector.
Roy has 10 years' experience in the power and electricity sector. Prior to joining Shirlaws Roy was Regional Director for Asia for an electricity utility company, based in Kuala Lumpur, developing their position in the Asian market and negotiating and managing contracts. He started a Project Development company focussed upon international power projects in 1994 working in partnership with a number of Scottish energy related companies such as Wood Group, Aggreko, Rolls Royce & Balfour Kilpatrick. He developed projects in Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and the Philippines through building relationships with government and local businesses as well as strategic relationships with large international utilities.
Roy also has experience with the Scottish Development Agency, where he led their Technology Transfer division into Europe and worked with many businesses across a wide range of sectors (healthcare, engineering, IT, telecoms, food & drink) helping them establish business relationships in Europe. During this time he worked closely with the clients in assisting them to establish licence-type deals.
Roy began his career in land surveying before entering the oil industry. He set up his first business in dimensional control engineering in 1984. He has a science degree, an MBA and is a member of the Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
